Stayed in pretty much this weekend. Neither of us felt super duper in the tummy area, and it's super crowded out and about on the weekend (especially Sunday). Since i have the option of going out shopping/errands NOT on a Sunday, it's in my best interest to stay away form the marketplaces because the crowds would freak me out. I colored my hair yesterday (Garnier is huge here) which was very easy to do in a bathroom that is entirely cement and tile. I just stood in front of the mirror for the roots and sat on the floor for the long parts and when I was done I pinned it up and washed myself from the neck down under the water spout and hosed off any drips on the walls and floor with the toilet hose. No shower curtain or area rug to worry about, everything is washable and goes down the drain. We keep things that can't get wet (cotton balls, qtips, etc) on the windowsill which is very high up and on the opposite end of the room from the shower. As I've said b4 the water is all out of whack this week. This morning there wasn't enough water pressure for the shower, so I was going to wash my hair in the kitchen sink, but then realized that there WAS water pressure int he bathroom for the water spout (under the shower). I've been taking 2 showers a day and washing my hair every other day. I brought excessive toiletries, but that was sort of my luxury = didn't take up a lot of room in thew luggage and I will be going back with less than I brought (cotton balls, facial wipes, sanitary items etc). The only things I didn't bring were hair conditioner and body lotion, bcuz I didn't want to risk those 2 items leaking in my bag and they are so easy to get. On future trips I think I will again bring excessive toiletries = knowing I can always leave them behind in a hotel room or host's bathroom and that will give me space in my luggage for gifts etc. Between the motorcycle helmet and the heat I learned really fast not to give a hoot what my hair looked like. 2 French braids down the sides most days is the most practical thing. The ladies here all wear their hair very long and in one braid = makes sense to me, you still have the attractive hair, but it is kept clean and off the face in the heat. I promise to write about something more interesting tomorrow.
1) water pressure is better in the spout sometimes than the shower, if that's the case, sit on the floor and wash 2) the family of workmen that lives outside the office building cooking 3) large temple near the office, the man in the right foreground is having his motorcycle blessed 4) the toilet hose is good for cleaning the bathroom in general, since it's at the opposite end of the room from the shower drain, just aim that way 5) the outlet is on the wall well out of the way of water, in the smallest bathroom off of the living room the outlet is above the shower to completely avoid spray
